Bird Key is a man-made island off Sarasota, built and developed by the Arivda Corporation. The original founding father was Arthur Vining Davis, CEO of Alcoa Co. The key consists exclusively of single family houses. There are no condominiums or commerical properties on this key . Most homes are waterfront, either on a canal or direct bay. The boating water is great. You can walk to St.Armands Circle or to Sarasota. The new causeway bridge will not be a draw bridge, so after completion, there will be no more waiting for boats to pass underneath.
